Questions

Questions we hear before the first visit

Will I see the design before you paint?

Yes. The sketch is drawn in color, to scale, on a photo of your own wall, and you sign it before any paint is bought. Changes to the sketch are written into the proposal.

Who has to approve a wall?

You, and whoever owns the building if that isn't you. Some walls also need a city mural registration or a sign-off from an HOA or business district. We tell you which at the approval step, before paint is ordered.

What does the written proposal say?

The wall and its size, prep and repairs, the sketch and how many changes it includes, paint and sealer, the schedule, the approvals we line up, the payment stages and cleanup. It is the only paper we ask you to sign besides the sketch.

How much does a mural cost?

It depends on the wall's size and condition, how detailed the art is, the height and whether the crew needs a lift or scaffold, and the sealer. We don't quote from a photo alone. We visit the wall, then send a written proposal.

How long does a mural take?

A storefront-size wall is a few days of painting after the prep. Your proposal lists the days. The weather decides the rest: we don't paint wet walls, and in summer we start early to stay out of the worst heat.

What if it rains?

We wait. Paint goes on a dry wall, and the proposal says what happens to the schedule when a day is lost.

Will the colors fade in the sun?

Sun fades every pigment slowly, reds and yellows first. We use exterior paint made for masonry and seal the finished wall. Ask us which colors and sealers hold up best on a wall that faces the afternoon sun.

Can you paint over graffiti?

Yes. We clean and prime the wall first. A clear coat makes paint easier to wipe clean, but no coating stops tagging, and we won't say it does.

Can you paint a lobby or restaurant after hours?

Yes. Tell us when the space is empty and we plan the crew around it, with floors and fixtures covered. The proposal lists the hours.

Can you paint our logo or a photo?

We paint your idea or your brand's art at wall scale. Bring the logo file. We don't copy another artist's work, and we'll tell you if a design needs the artist's permission.

Is my building built before 1978? What changes?

EPA rules apply to paid work that disturbs paint in homes and child-occupied buildings built before 1978, such as schools, day cares and kids' rooms. If yours is that old, tell us when you call. We check the paint before we sand or scrape it and follow the EPA's renovation rules where they apply. Our firm number is in the footer.

Do you send a certificate of insurance?

Yes. Landlords and cities ask for one, and we send it with the proposal. The insurance on file is listed under Credentials on the studio page.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Aida Dorantes and Mikaela Bacani speak Spanish. Ask for either of them by name when you call or text.

Can I paint with you?

On community walls, yes: we run paint days where neighbors fill in color the crew has marked. We plan those with you and the property owner, and everyone wears the right gear.
